The best way to add a photo to a blog comment is by creating a Gravatar! What’s a Gravatar?
I heard about Gravatars last week on Twitter. A Gravatar is a globally recognised avatar. As quoted from the site “Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?”.
So I’ve set myself up with a Gravatar. I’ve used a photo of myself, nothing fancy, just a regular photo. So when I comment on a blog, as I sometimes do, if I comment using the email address that I used when setting up my Gravatar (and that’s the important bit!), my photo appears next to my blog comment. How good is that. Well I was excited… So if you fancy doing a bit of the same then go to this site – http://en.gravatar.com/ – select ‘Get Your Gravatar Today’, enter your email address which you will be using when commenting on a blog or web forum and select ‘Signup’.
So go on, give it a go, and once you’ve signed up test it by commenting on this blog. You’ll be amazed. I was.
I’m testing my own just to check it’s still working!
This is really good – so working my way through the steps required. Keep up the useful info ….. Stu
Really useful post thank you (from another Hertfordshire lady). Have set up my gravatar.
Pleased you found it helpful.
Just goes to show, people [not spam meisters] read blogs. Thanks for the info – followed the instructions, and there’s my photo.
Nice one!
