In the world of online marketing it’s very important to establish yourself as a trusted authority, expert and leader in your field. Your entire marketing strategy should be based around this philosophy. Due to the type of technology available these days and the relative ease with which we can promote our message through different types of media it doesn’t have to be overly expensive either.

One way of promoting yourself and your organisation is of course to generate press releases and to distribute them using established services. Another way to reach a broad range of listeners in your particular field is to host your own radio show online. This is a whole lot easier than it used to be and an excellent opportunity to engage with prospects and others within your industry.

Blog Talk Radio now has more than 188,000 different radio talk shows. This is a testament to the power of the solution, as people establish an outlet to provide their own point of view or respective industry expertise.

There are two different ways to look at Blog Talk Radio. You can set up your own radio talk show, or you can engage with other broadcasters who are already seen as experts in the business.

Let’s look at the first option. There are essentially four different types of account available to you, but there’s no reason why you cannot start off at the lowest level, which is free. Using any phone and Web browser you can host your own ‘live’ talk show with no monthly fees. You’re allowed to have up to five simultaneous guests or listeners on the show and you can engage in ‘live’ chat with listeners. You’re allowed to share this participation on your social media networks, retain recordings which can be used as podcasts and embed your show within your existing blog or on iTunes.

As you move up to the different account types you get more benefits. For example, for $39 per month you can host a two-hour show every day and have up to 50 ‘live’ concurrent callers. You’re able to schedule this in prime time and will be given up to 5000 promotional impressions per month. The number of concurrent callers to your show and the number of promotional impressions given each month increase according to the additional fees. At the $249 per month level you’re able to stream your show ‘live’ on any website.

On the other end of the spectrum you can register with Blog Talk Radio by creating an account using a social network identity. Then you’re able to interact ‘live’ with hosts and other listeners on existing shows that may be very appropriate to your needs. You will be able to become part of the community by connecting with others who could be prospects, or who could have a following of their own. You can create awareness of your existence by interacting regularly in this way.

This may be something you can delegate to your virtual assistant. The VA can manage your schedule and keep up-to-date with new shows that are relevant to your niche. If you want to establish your own radio show then you can use a variety of different free resources such as existing social media accounts to start to build your audience.
