My days usually start early. Right now it’s 0752 and I’ve had an idea for a blog post (this one!). I’ve a busy day today. I’ve a mixture of client work and I need to ‘work on the business’.
At the moment I’m thinking of changing my website. The last change must have been, oh, all of six months ago, but I’m bored of it already. My site is WordPress, and the beauty of WordPress is that I can change the theme at a whim if I really wanted to. There are so many great places to find WordPress themes. The world is my oyster. I can either choose from a plethoro of free themes or buy a theme. My favourite place to buy WordPress themes is ThemeForest. My current website was purchased from there. It took me a few days to get it up and running and I’ve had a fair few compliments about it. The thing is, I’m getting a bit bored of it now and there are a few niggles that I don’t like so today I’m going to go hunting for a new template. So that’s the bit of ‘working on the business’ I am going to be working on today. Also, obviously, typing blogs is another, very important part of ‘working on a business’ and ensures, hopefully, good rankings in the search engines as the likes of Google like ‘dynamic’ content rather than static websites which never change from day to day.
I also need to sort out my LinkedIn account today. I’ve been suspended! Allegedly someone from overseas has been hacking into my account and LinkedIn want me to verify my identity before re-activating my account. Someone has also been sending spam from my account so, if we are connected on LinkedIn, I would like to profusely apologise if you have been receiving spam from me (it’s not me guv!).
So what client work am I going to be doing today? I can’t spend all my time faffing around with ‘working on the business’. I need to make some bread and butter. I won’t bore you too much with the details but today my day mainly involves typing a survey from audio for, you guessed it, a surveyor. I’m also going to be having a chat with a ‘top end’ graphic designer who has produced one of my client’s logos. He is going to talk me through ‘manipulating’ the logo. Ooo er missus. Next step is to finalise the ‘T&C’s on a client’s promotion on Facebook as recently Facebook have updated their promotions guidelines. I’ve already created the promotion as an app (step 1), however I now need to add the Facebook disclaimers.
What else do I need to do today? Yeap, once I’ve had a discussion with the graphic designer I’ll need to update my client’s logo on their website, blog, Facebook and Twitter photos. I also need to update some Mailchimp autoresponders. And for another client I need to complete their WordPress scheduled blogs, along with looking for photos, adding appropriate keywords and categories. And I also need to do a bit of data cleansing. Other than that I don’t have a lot on, lol.
So how does your day pan out, I’d love to read your comments.

Hello Alison – you do well to “only” have blog ideas at 7:52am. I tend to have them in the middle of the night.
It is also on my list to email you about Linkedin – sorry for delay.
Ha ha, me too but I’m not getting up at death o’clock to write them, lol.
No I don’t get up at death o clock either. But I need to work out the secret to NOT waking up…
